My Day At Work

All shots Olympus OM2n : Zuiko 35 - 80mm f2.8 Zoom : Agfa Vista 200

This was one of those strange weather days. Just about everywhere you look the sky is black and full of rain but somehow the sun seems to not only find a way through but remain shining for most of the time. The effect is enhanced by the seeing that it has obviously just rained heavily but never actually seeing it rain. You just get the puddles and that great after rain smell. Almost forgot. Work content, I drive the Toyota pick-up for a living.

My first job is a collection from a warehouse. I shoot this on the way over,

This is the fork lift truck driver that loads the bales. We chat about the news of the day, football and holidays etc. in the way that you do.

Leafy lanes are ten a penny in England and everywhere you look in the month of May there are the yellow fields of Oilseed Rape. It is a beautiful country right enough and it is a photographers dream but I don't always give you the full picture. It is an extreme example but if I stay on exactly the same spot, rotate through 120 degrees, re-frame and then re-focus......................................

................I get this. The notice in the background, which is up for an optimist of the year award, says 'No Tipping'. Those leafy lanes that have such appeal for those of us that want to get away from it all are also ideal for those who wish to dispose of rubbish without paying a fee at the local tip.

I have a delivery to make in Northampton and the sky is still threatening, the ground is still wet from just fallen rain and the sun is still shining. It really does happen all the time around here, no wonder us Brits are weather obsessed.

I am unsure whether this is what passes for cutting edge fashion in Northampton or whether the town is on a war footing. Note the blue sky. Note also the puddles from the downpour that I just missed.

Driving home after work I take a couple more shots around the village of Earls Barton.

The sky has been like that all day and I have not seen so much as a single drop of rain. What a country!
