An
amazing 100% turnout despite the weather forecast and the long journeys
that many of them had to make. L to R Piers Hemy, Chris Barker, Jason
Gidden, Jon Mitchell, Simon Worby, Martin Flink and James Royall. Chris
asked about the location of the pub, switched on his hop seeking radar
and we were off. |

Failing light
made photography difficult or it may have been that the light was
fine and I screwed up the exposure :-)
| |
Badby
Wood was just losing a spring carpet of bluebells but undeterred Jon
set about getting a shot of what was left of them. |
The
local farmer very kindly rolled this field to provide stripes for the
inevitable green filter that I have arc welded to my lenses. |

The
Maltsters Arms had a sign proclaiming a ban on walkers entering the
bar with muddy boots. Fortunately our boots were all covered in sheep
shit so we went right on in and ordered. We tried to tell the guy out
of shot on the left that he was among friends but he steadfastly refused
to let go of his pint. |
The Maltsters Arms pioneered the system of serving unfermented ale and
allowing it to mature on the table while you wait for the hot baguette
to arrive. Time lapse photography was not an option so we could not
record the service at The Maltsters Arms. We did the mug shot thing
instead. |

The
gearfest was well under way and Simon was particularly taken with Piers'
24mm f3.5 shift lens. So much so that he was in danger of 'shifting'
into the middle of the road as he came to terms with the weird perspective
in the viewfinder. |

One
happy zuikoholic! |

Chris
was really impressed by the rich history of Northamptonshire and he
sat in quiet contemplation of what a great year 1759 was. |
:-)
I had to order this stuff because I was shooting b&w film. |
| |
Piers
knows a lot about Olympus stuff, not least because he seems to own most
of it. Furthermore he seems to get most of it into his 'Tardis' camera
bag ...... |
....which
is packed so tightly with goodies that he told a fellow zuikoholic that
he would have to give the 80-200mm f2.8 'a good pull' to remove it from
the bag. He was right too, jammed solid with gear, a real Aladdins cave
of a camera bag. |
| |
| Martin was the
next in line to handle the 24mm shift lens. |
Me
looking through a lens at James looking through a lens at a lens while
Martin looks at the lens without a lens. It doesn't get any better than
this. |
| |
| Jason, who organised
the get together, is amused by something out of shot. |
....... but got
serious when he got hold of the 24mm shift. |
| |
The
end of the day and Jon gets in a few last shots before the sun goes
down. Actually it's about 3 p.m. but I screwed up the exposure again
:-) |
Thanks
to Jason for all his efforts organising the get together and thanks
to all for taking time out from domestic matters and making the trip.
To leave home for a day out walking when the weather forecast was so
bad was borderline heroic. |
