During the mid-Nineteen Eighties, a group of recent artists started to emerge who rejected the extra polished nation-pop sound that had been distinguished on radio and the charts, in favor of extra, traditional, “back-to-fundamentals” manufacturing. Many of the artists during the latter half of the 1980s drew on conventional honky-tonk, bluegrass, people and western swing.
